We are pleased to announce that the keynote speakers will be Chris Harwood from UK and Karin de Bruin from The Netherlands.
Chris Harwood (UK) is an accredited sport psychologist of BASES. In the years 2007-2011 he was vice president of FEPSAC. Chris received his PhD in 1997 from Loughborough University, where he is currently lecturing. At the same time he works applied and does research. His main areas of interest are achievement motivation and motivational climate, the development of psychological skills with the focus on youth athletes and the role of parents and coaches and their education. Chris is also a member of the editorial board of “The Sport Psychologist” journal.
Karin de Bruin (NL) is a VSPN ® accredited sport psychologist. She graduated in 1995 from clinical and health psychology at Utrecht University. Her doctoral research “Thin is going to win?” was focused on eating disorders in sport. Since 2002 Karin has been working full time in sport psychology and she started her own practice in 2003. She is engaged in mental training of athletes, dancers and performers, and coaching and treatment of deeper problems. Her experiences come from various sports such as gymnastics, trampolining, dance, athletics, equestrian sports, cycling, swimming, rowing and various ball games. In her keynote with the provisional title “Eating disorders in sport and sport psychology: food for thought”, Karin will talk about eating disorders, how they manifest themselves in sport, the interaction between eating disorders and sport, and what role and responsibilities the sport psychologists have in identificaiton, treatment and prevention of eating disorders.
